Subregions

[edit]

Three out of five subregions redlink and at least one is hardly more than an empty skeleton... What are they good for? Hobbitschuster (talk) 14:28, 16 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

These sub-regions certainly make sense. Moving information out of the two existing articles and then back into these articles when they are eventually recreated, this sounds like waste of time. You can't treat the whole Leningrad Oblast as one single bottom-level region because it includes both places around St. Petersburg having ultimate tourist importance (Pushkin, Peterhof, etc.) and places located some 150 km away from St. Petersburg, including, for example, Vyborg, which is very popular among Finns. --Alexander (talk) 18:59, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
I am sorry, but that does not make the case to me. Imagine instead of Leningrad Oblast we were talking about subdivision for - say - Southern Rwanda or Jackson County; Would your opinion still be the same? Hobbitschuster (talk) 19:47, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
I am saying that the moment you will try to write this article, you will understand why places around St. Petersburg should be separated from those located in the "rim" of this region. The transportation is totally different, and the very nature of these destinations is different. This could be of less importance in some other place, but not in St. Petersburg, which is the main Russian destination for foreign tourists. --Alexander (talk) 21:06, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
How about moving Saint Petersburg (district) to be a sub-district of Northwestern Russia and make Leningrad Oblast all cities except Saint Petersburg (district)? --Traveler100 (talk) 20:09, 11 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Fine with me. --Alexander (talk) 06:16, 12 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
