It looks like a lot of the cities listed on this page are from different areas (Southern Finland, etc.). I'm not sure if southern or western is correct, but the ones not in western Finland should probably be moved to the Get out section. (WT-en) Fastestdogever 22:25, 11 February 2007 (EST)

The dividing line should be the province boundary. Unfortunately it's not very intuitive even for native Finns... (WT-en) Jpatokal 23:23, 11 February 2007 (EST)

FYI

[edit]

As you might have noticed I just moved this article to a new name as User:Andyrom75 suggested the former was incompatible with its Wikidata article. However I'm not going to do any substantial edits to the article or static map as I'm looking into dividing this one into two - the old Vaasa county in the north (the Ostrobothnias) and Southwestern Finland in the south (Pirkanmaa, Satakunta and "Southwestern Finland" > Finland Proper). To be more precise, it was in conflict with the wikipedian voice that was linked through Wikidata (w:Western Finland) because the two pages (the article in voy and the voice in w) talk about similar but different areas. Now with the two different wikidata instances that have different names, the conflict has been solved. --Andyrom75 (talk) 17:42, 2 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
I see. --ϒpsilon (talk) 17:49, 2 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Main division?

[edit]

I am puzzled by a paragraph in the resent edit 2944182, especially one sentence:

In Finnish ethnography, the main division is between Pohjanmaa and the Southwest, which have distinct Finnish dialects and culture.

Is this trying to tell about the division between western and eastern culture, where Ostrobothnia (Pohjanmaa) and Finland Proper (Varsinais-Suomi) both represent the west? In that case it is very confusingly written. Or is this referring to some important difference between Ostrobothnia and Finland Proper? Anyway, I am not sure I recognize the characterisation.

Perhaps it's best to ask User:Vuo who added it. ϒpsilon (talk) 17:52, 20 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
